Today I want to talk about kindness in general and kindness practice.

Kindness is the when you show consideration and are friendly, generous. But it shows and we demonstrate it in different ways: love, care, compassion, empathy, helping someone…but without waiting for something in return.

Kindness is known to have health benefits and increase the wellbeing of the person being kind but also the receiver of an act of kindness.

So let’s be kind and why not start by the kindness we show ourselves:

  • When was the last time you were kind to yourself?
  • When was the last time you gave yourself permission to be kind to yourself?

When we are stressed, (me included) our inner critic is really good at us shutting any hopes down and finding the worst in us. We can find ourselves saying the most unkind words to ourselves. Words that we would not say our best friend…

So if you have not been kind to yourself in the last 24 hours, thank your inner critic for the help ( but gently tell him/ her to go away),  find out what you need and be kind to yourself as soon as possible. And do it often…

Do you want to know more about kindness or do more?

and then a Ted video from Christine Porath on how to show up and treat people at work and how this impact the people we work with.
